Monday, November Fourth, Two Thousand & Twelve

We also celebrated a birthday this weekend with Ryan and Savannah and some other friends. On the menu were some bacon wrapped water chestnus…these things are so delicious…I have to holds myself back from eating them all. |Toledo,OH

This weekend was full of more celebrating of Derek’s 30th birthday (and of fall): a surprise party around a backyard fire on Friday and a special dinner of pork roast stuffed with apples, cranberries, and walnuts on Sunday, finished off with this Guinness chocolate cake with irish cream frosting |Kansas City, MO

  1. Sounds like a fun evening with a fire and cake…the only thing that would have made it better is if we were there. So does a Guinness cake have a strong flavor to it? That looks delicious.

    • I was thinking about that this weekend — how I would have loved to have you guys there celebrating, too. Maybe someday :-).

And no, it wasn’t a really strong beer flavor, just a subtle one that blended really well with the dark chocolate. It was amazing.
